These are the questions I get asked most often. If yours isn’t here, send me a message and I’ll get back to you.

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

No. You can book straight in with me online, no GP referral needed. The only exception is if you want to use a Medicare care plan, DVA or workers’ compensation: then you’ll need the right paperwork, so contact me before booking.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your Initial Consultation is a full hour. We’ll talk through your history and goals, I’ll do a thorough physical assessment, and you’ll get hands-on treatment in the same session. You’ll leave knowing what’s going on, what we’re going to do about it, and with a few exercises to start straight away.

How much does it cost?

An Initial Consultation is $160 (60 min) and a Standard Follow Up is $130 (40 min). All fees, including dry needling, breathwork and digital programs, are on the Fees & Rebates page.

Can I claim on my private health insurance?

Yes, if your extras cover includes physiotherapy. I have HICAPS in the clinic so you can claim on the spot and only pay the gap. How much you get back depends on your fund and level of cover.

Do you accept Medicare, DVA or workers’ compensation?

Please get in touch before booking if any of these apply, so I can confirm what’s covered and book you into the right appointment type.

Where is the clinic and is there parking?

The clinic is at Bay 9, 6 Middlemiss Street, Lavender Bay NSW 2060, about 5 minutes’ walk from both Milsons Point and North Sydney stations. There’s street parking nearby, and the building is wheelchair-friendly with lifts.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear something comfortable you can move in. Shorts are ideal for knee, hip or lower-leg problems, and a singlet or sports top for neck and shoulder problems. Bring any scans, reports or referral letters you have, and your health fund card if you’d like to claim on the spot.

What is dry needling, and is it the same as acupuncture?

Dry needling uses very fine needles placed directly into tight, sensitive points in a muscle to reduce pain and help it move and work properly again. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese meridians; dry needling is based on anatomy and on what I find in your assessment. You can read more on my Dry Needling page.

Does dry needling hurt, and will I be sore afterwards?

Most people feel a brief twitch or ache as the muscle responds, not a sharp pain. It’s normal to be a bit sore for 24 to 48 hours, a little like after a hard workout. My After Dry Needling Care guide explains what to expect and what to do.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your injury, how long you’ve had it and what you want to get back to. Many people notice a change after the first session, and I’ll always give you an honest estimate at your first visit. My aim is to get you managing on your own with a good program, not to keep you coming back.

Can I work with you without coming into the clinic?

Yes. With a Custom Digital Program I design an exercise program for you, delivered to the PhysiApp on your phone within 48 hours. It’s $69 for new clients and $59 for existing clients.

Which days are you in the clinic?

My availability changes from week to week, so the best place to check is my online booking page, which always shows live times.

How do I book, change or cancel an appointment?

You can book online at any time. To change or cancel, use the link in your booking confirmation email, and please give as much notice as you can so someone else can have the spot.
